Saturday 29. March - Morning -
1. Exercise:

-

Standing in a circle. Say your name and something to describe you in connection to the first letter in your name. For instance: Gill goes towards the middle of the circle and says "gorgeous Gill" and makes a movement to express this. Everybody is imitating, saying: "gorgeous Gill" making the same moves as Gill in the same way as she did.
2. Exercise:

-

Going through the vocals. Starting with A. Anyone can go to the middle and say a sound beginning with the vocal A. Everybody follows making the same sound, moves and attitude.
3. Exercise:
-
Standing in a circle. Everybody thinks of a sound and the facilitator starts / stop different persons saying their sound. Different rhythms is being produced.
- Taking turns on being in the middle
4. Exercise "Carnival in Rio":

-

Groups of 3. A / B / C - standing like a clockwork.
-
Each person has his/her sound, rhythm and moves. Starts by learning the others sound, rhythm and moves.
-
The facilitator then say A and A does his/her sound and rhythm…B and C imitate A.
- Then each group must invent a common sound and rhythm without saying anything. Parts of A, B and C´s own sound can be parts of the new rhythm or a brand new one is being made.
-
Then all the groups are walking / dancing with their own song / dance and now everyone can join a different group if they want that or they can stay where they are….!
- In our case it ended up with two large groups singing and dancing together.
- Every time doing this exercise, the result will be different.
- This exercise can be a bit competitive.
5. Exercise. / Image theatre / forum theatre.
-

Groups of 6 from the image theatre. Each group discuss, which image can be used in Forum Theatre. Each member of the group share a story of own explored oppression.

- Decide in each group which story to use in the forum theatre piece.
- Say yes, if anyone in the group wants to have a look on his / her story, and offers his / her story as a piece of forum theatre. .
The story:

-

The story must be believable.
- It must have a beginning, a middle and an ending.
- It must create sympathy for the main character / sympathy with the oppressed.
- Must activate the spectators.
- Must be able to be changed.
- Actually it could be a series of images.
- As simple as possible. The simpler it is, the more people may go into it.
- Leave as much for the actors to do.
-
When playing, make sure that the story and the information is clear. If the information is not clear, a possibility is to make a "hot seat" exercise, where the characters must answer questions about them being in the story.
- Show that you know the audience/spectators.(children/young ones / grown ups)
-
In Forum Theatre you play yourself showing the story. Remember that your story is now theatre and everyones domain.
-
It is a good thing to have a thing that follows the catalyst - for instance a hat, glasses or something. This may also be characteristic for the person as well.
