VAT Theatre youth
group gathered first in 1999. |
We started with theatre
training for young people and specialised on improvisational and forum
theatre later. |
In those times there were many theatre tours and festivals we took part in all around Estonia. |
In spring 2002 VAT Theatre youth group
was asked to contribute to multilateral youth exchange Trommer for Fred
(TF) held in Copenhagen form September 28th to October 10th. For many
of us it was first time to participate in international youth exchange.
Thus this valuable event has provided us with a lot of new prospects. |
||
TF was not "just
a youth exchange" but also a spiritual and touching personal experience
which on the background stood for intercultural understanding and tolerance
as well as art action and self-expression training on the foreground. |
All the workshops were facilitated very skilfully and charismatic workshop leaders left unfading memory to young people. | |
Quite often language barrier poses
some difficulties in multilingual communication. However, in TF none
of us felt misunderstood or got in stuck because of language. Friendly
and caring atmosphere during youth exchange helped to avoid conflicts.
"We used the same language, the same marks, and we understood them
in the same way - in our own way. . |
||
That’s what our community had
in common besides wonderful workshops we took part in and the fun we
had between them." said one girl from our group afterwards |
VAT youth are still in contact with
other participants and eagerly waiting for the next youth exchange in
Tallinn. |
