Trommer for Fred
Youth-Exchange in Copenhagen 28.9-5.10.2002
“Trommer for Fred” which is Danish for “Drums for Peace”
was the fourth multilateral youth-exchange arranged by Drums for Peace
Network, but it was the first time such a project included participants
from Eastern Europe.
The project had participants from Lithuania, Estonia, Portugal, France,
Wales and Denmark and each country did send a group consisting of 10 young
people and 2 trainers.
During the first 3 days all participants took part in following workshops
run by professional artists with a great experience in youth work:
A) |
Breakdance with Steve Johnson from Leeds |
B) |
DJ’ing and Music Production with DJ-Booma from Leeds |
C) |
Show-Dance with Paco from Portugal |
D) |
African Percussion with Didier Pajot from France |
E) |
“Rhythm & Movement” with Mariana Brandâo from
Portugal. |
Day 4 and 5 included presentations of the work in 2 local schools and
a youth club, and these relaxed “showings” secured that we
also had good time for socializing and exploring Copenhagen.
Many participants said in their evaluation that “Trommer for Fred”
had been one of the best experiences in their life or maybe even changed
their life into a new direction.
The artists and the project leader mentioned it as the most successful
Drums for Peace project until now.
